Web, log and mail server.

Thought I'd take it upon myself to create a mail server on 'roppie' (me server). It's now a log server also, I even got my router to send logs to it too. Interesting it is though, I have 'jlap' sending all its logs to roppie too. 'roppie' also runs a minimal web server (lighttpd + mysql, same as jlap) but also serves the logs out on HTTP so I can view them anywhere.

I've been using SFTP on roppie since FTP didn't work for a loooong time. I tried to FTP to it today...and well....proftpd wasn't installed in the first place. So now I have that up and running so its all good.

A switch would be nice for my network, something under 100$ (which I found one on Staples) and it would probably increase my network performace :D
According to my router, I'm only getting 10Mbps half duplex from my modem/ISP. Which sucks.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with myself for what I did. I set up two servers, tweaked them and....are actually...running smoothly.

Sunday

I've been busy with things lately but now since basketball season is over, I'm sure I'll be more productive. Anyway, I'll try to work on Server Stat(demo) a bit today then probably release it. It's about time I get my dead server up and running, I've just been procrastinating. Anyway, I'm gonna do a little maintenance on my servers, then go work on something. Oh, by the way, does anyone want the MailX script I made? It lets you mail other members, sorta like a private messaging system. There is also a iWebKit version of it too. Comments are appreciated :D

Ah!

My ISP phoned today, two times. I've been going over my monthly bandwidth cap every month, so I could understand that they are mad at me. Back in November, I went to 120GB's that month. January, I was at about 80GBs (60GBs is my cap). I half put up an ad to sell Torrentino. I just don't have the time to maintain it anymore. Its come a long way since October 3rd. Comments are appreciated :D

Money

I haven't made much money at all with AdSense. I have it on this site (2500mhz.info, filevault.info/) and Torrentino. From October to about early December, I earned about 20$ CAD and its been pretty stagnant since then. Not sure what I'm doing wrong; maybe more visitors or something.
I had a basketball tournament Friday and Saturday, got home around 21:00. Did a clean sleep of the whole tournament, won all of the games and even the 3 point and free throw contest.
Anyway, I haven't done much all day, watch a couple movies. I still haven't fixed flippy, my web server, which as been down since December-ish. I'm off to do something productive, I'll post if I do something interesting.... (Comments are appreciated :) )

iWebKit

While reading the Loving Tech, I discoverediWebKit. Whats iWebKit? Well, in a nutshell it gives you tools to create a bridge between a mobile website and a iPhone/iPod Touch App. What does this mean? You can make some beautiful websites, easily. For a demo click here. Anyway, I made my private messaging system (which I codenamed 'MailX') a nice little conversion using iWebKit. Check it out here. Its not completely finished, but it works! So grab your iPod or iPhone and check it out!
Update: Maybe I'll post a little tutorial on how to use iWebKit

Schmaaa

Went for a walk today, and took some pictures. Most of them were blurry, I picked out the best ones and put them on my Flickr page. Anyway, I sorta feel like working on mail, adding a style, making a mobile version and maybe putting it on my [personal] server. I'm not really looking forward to tomorrow (school that is). I think I'm gonna go play some Quake or maybe get started on CS:S.....

Gros Mammouth

Well, I've been caught up with school and such so I haven't had much time for blogging (well I have....its just that I'm lazy). Anyway, I turned my CSS server (roppie) into a web server, running here and the main website is here. We had 2 games today, lost one won the other and 2 games tomorrow, yaay...... Well, I'm off to go watch a movie or something....

Bleh

Well, I was supposed to get my other webserver up and running today...but I forgot and instead played Rock Band all day. Meh, oh well. I must of been the only person on earth that didn't know that VLC has a web interface. I saw it in a podcast I was watching. There's an app in the AppStore that lets you control VLC remotely, but is limited and you have to pay for the full version. But, now that I know that there is a web interface, I wouldn't need it! Oh yeah, heres the link to my private messaging system: mail. Not sure what I'll officially name it, I could go with MailX (Like EngX, the search engine). Feel free to sign up, and send messages to 'easton' (no quotes, of course). Anyway, I'll try to get my server up and running, and move my CS:S server.
